At the suggestion of the rector of the University of Padua, Carlo Scarpa designed these 'Centro da tavolo' for the various faculties of the university. The eagle, which is holding a sword in his claws, as a symbol of justice for the Faculty of Law. Other figures from this series are the rooster with a skull (medicine/surgery), swan and book (literature/philosophy).
